My name is Bayu Christa Mulya. I’m 25 years old and currently a college student at UKSW (Satya Wacana Christian University) in Salatiga. I have been majoring in English Literature since 2018 and am still working toward earning my bachelor’s degree. I’m from Pati, Central Java, Indonesia, and I am the second of three brothers.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I commute from Pati to Salatiga whenever I have to attend college classes, even though the distance between the two cities is 100 kilometers. I enjoy riding my motorcycle, so the trip never bores me. I’m also a hiker—I love being in nature because it soothes my mind and teaches me patience and determination.
I like listening to my friends when they share their problems and anxieties, because I personally feel relieved after talking to someone about my own. So at the very least, I hope I can offer my friends a sense of relief when they share their stories with me. I know my understanding and perspective are still limited, and by joining this training, I hope to gain new insights into peace and justice. I want to apply this new understanding to my own life.
