Sharing a Good Story in Two People
This month has been a good experience for me.
It was a beautiful memory when I was with the 1st and 2nd graders of a junior high school in Semarang sharing our own good experiences. With the guidance of Power of Goodness, we practiced for about 2 hours. We read the story “New Girl in School”. After we took turns reading, we reflected on what good things we had done with our friends in class. I was so happy when a junior high school student shared her experience of buying her classmate food when he didn’t have any money at school. When I asked them, “Are there others who are the same?” Many of them used to buy food for their friends when their friends did not bring money.
This was a reinforcement for all of us to be willing to care about other friends when they are in trouble. I invite children to share in several groups. This aims to make the children want to share the good things they have done in class or outside of class. It turns out that it is not easy for children to talk about the goodness they have. Children feel ashamed of their goodness. Children think, “Let God know my goodness.” The children felt happy when doing Power of Goodness activities together and they asked me, “When can we meet Wiwit again to play?”. The Power of Goodness activity brought the children and me closer.
