PoG Facilitator, West Papua

Sint, facilitating a session at Holei Roi Orphanage.

My name is Sint Aidit Tokoro, usually called Sint. I come from the Sentani Tribe, Jayapura Regency, Papua. I was born in 1987, grew up in Sentani with my mother who died when I was in high school. After high school, I didn’t go to college because I didn’t have the money, so I joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM)- Sentani. I served 8 years at YWAM Sentani as a staff member who was sent to various villages in Papua.

I met my wife Selly Novi at YWAM in 2017 and on 4 December 2018 we got married in East Nusa Tenggara. After we got married we decided to stop working at YWAM and start our own activities.

We voluntarily teach children to read and write, helping people who don’t provide food aid, proper clothing, from what we have. We also connect out of school and underprivileged children with communities that can help them. We did it to the best of our ability without any donors. We have regular activities in December to carry out mission trips in remote areas of Papua. Last year we went to Merauke and this year we are going to Biak.

I am currently studying at the Burere Sentani Protestant Christian High School, Papua Semester 5. I first heard of Life Without Violence from my wife in 2020 and accompanied my wife to introduce Life Without Violence at the Holei Roo Orphanage. I was interested and learned with my wife about how to quit before doing activities and can be done anytime and anywhere. On
29 April 2022-18 June 2022 I attended the Online Training conducted by Peace Place Pati with some friends from Papua and Nusa Tenggara Timor (East Nusa Tenggara).

To equip myself in developing a Culture of Peace in Papua, I was supported by the Friend Peace Team to take part in Regional Training at Peace Place Pati on 20 June 2022-19 August 2022. I am happy to get to know friends from various ethnicities, religions and backgrounds. For me the CCP is a suitable tool to be developed in Papua, armed and other violence in Papua has not stopped untill now.. Many adults and children live in trauma. I wish to be able to develop a Culture of Peace for the Papuan generation.

I would like to thank all those who are involved in this peace mission and support me and my wife in Papua. Peace is Possible

Greetings of peace
Sint
