The team behind the Power of Goodness Global event from Indonesia and the Philippines
The facilitating team first met during the Regional Peace Training in Peace Place Pati, Indonesia in June of 2022, and continued working together for a few Power of Goodness (PoG) sessions after the training. The team consists of Wiwit from Central Java, Selly and Sint from West Papua, Indonesia, and Raissa from Manila, Philippines.
Our preparation time for the online Power of Goodness Global event held last December was about four months, and within that time, the team was able to get to know each other more and learn from each other. We had been writing and rewriting the agenda on Resiliency: New Girl in School, and had been consistently practicing its flow and facilitation. It was a challenge to find common time that works for everyone, considering the slight difference of timezones and other commitments we have in our work, community, and family. However, the whole process taught us patience and understanding which greatly helped in the team’s preparation.
We trusted the process we were going through by being open to new learnings along the way, such as receiving feedback from other friends in the PoG teams coaching session, and adjusting the way we process things as we hear from others. We built trust with each other in the course of the preparation, including trusting each other to do tasks in the given time and to communicate openly and effectively. This kind of trust stems from acknowledging and believing in each other’s capabilities and strengths. As we approached the event in December, we had additional people in the team who helped us in the technical needs, as well as those who helped in the
Trusting the process and the people we are with hugely affects how we respond to situations. In our situation, working and learning with people we trust and respect, we became a resilient team that knows when and how to ask help and accept help from others, be attentive of the opportunities around, and be able to creatively and proactively respond to challenges.
