Scholarships for Early Childhood Education at Joglo, Rumah Damai

Joglo School provides a learning space that values diversity in early childhood education. At Joglo, children at various levels of development grow together in an environment full of love and empathy. This diversity becomes a strength in forming a supportive community.

This diversity enriches children’s learning experiences and deepens teachers’ and families’ understanding of the importance of empathy, compassion, and good practices in everyday life. Children and adults learn to care for and nurture one another. Children help and offer assistance to one another. Likewise, Joglo’s open environment attracts children who are kinesthetic learners as they move in and out of the school grounds. There is always something to catch their attention, such as butterflies fluttering about, centipedes, ants, cats, fish ponds, stilt houses, or puddles. Sometimes they even play at the school gate. Parents who are waiting supervise their movements and keep them safe and within the school grounds. Teachers and parents at Joglo continue to learn support strategies and build communication so that every child feels accepted and safe and is able to learn calmly.

Samuel, Steven, and Aijaz like to play with water in the corner of the room.

This year, nearly 40% of children in Joglo require special support. To provide this support, Joglo has focused on providing appropriate learning media, teaching materials, and enthusiastic and passionate teachers. This costs more, so Joglo communicates education costs to parents openly. Fortunately, a spirit of mutual cooperation has grown among parents, in which those who are able voluntarily provide additional support to help other families experiencing financial difficulties.

Joglo also actively shares stories about its progress and challenges with the Friend Peace Teams community, a network of folks committed to supporting the advancement of children and peace education. Thank you all for your support!

From Peace Place in the village of Margorejo, the story of Joglo flows and inspires many to participate in building a more inclusive and peaceful community. This school proves that education with empathy, cooperation, and a sincere spirit of learning, can be a real tool for social transformation.
