I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to join the Regional Peace and Justice Training in the Philippines. I learned many things from all my friends. Everyone has great experiences to share in this training. Practicing AVP tools together is so beautiful. I learned from all my friends’ experience how to solve problems, see points in detail, be a good listener, be a good companion and more. I really appreciate how friends accepted me to study together.

Early on, I was worried about how to convey the material with my limited English. With a friendly smile, the team in the Philippines asked me to use a language that I was comfortable with and said we would translate it later. That they are so kind blows my mind. With this support, I started to have the courage to speak English. They understand me and accept me when I use English when communicating and this builds my confidence.

I feel like I’m alive again because many people from various countries think about how peace can be practiced in their respective communities. I intend to be more consistent in practicing the AVP tools of being a good listener, a good companion, and using agreements with the children and in my community in Pati, Central Java. I Increasingly believe that peace is real and can be practiced together regardless of age ranging from children to the elderly.
